You may not know this, but many children in Ontario are waiting for a family. While 97% of the children in Ontario receiving services from a Children's Aid Society (CAS) remain with their biological families, for some this is not possible.

Children and youth who find themselves in care at Valoris do so because they have experienced situations of neglect, abandonment or abuse. They are all different and have distinct emotional needs. But they all have the need to live in a family where they feel safe and loved, and where they can flourish.

Research and experience show the benefits of family and stability. Adoption gives children the opportunity to create a deep bond with a family of their own. At Valoris, we believe that all children need a forever family that will provide support, care, and unconditional love in a safe, loving home.

Openness in adoption has become increasingly popular in recent years. It is defined by different types of interactions between an adoptive family, a biological family and a child, and yields favourable results for the child's integration into the new family. Openness in adoption can reduce the trauma that could be related to adoption.

In recent years, the Ministry of Children and Youth Services (MCYS) has implemented initiatives to allow more children to be adopted in Ontario, including additional financial support and modification of laws to favour adoption.

Valoris would sincerely like to thank all adoptive families and those in the process of adopting. Thank you for offering children and youth what they need most; continuity, stability, guidance and love.

The next adoption information session will be held on January 12, 2017. If you have questions, if you are interested in adopting or to register for the information session, please contact us at 1 800 675.6168.
