Valoris for Children and Adults of Prescott-Russell held a press conference to mark the launch of the Positive Parenting Program (Triple P) expansion project. Provincial MPP Grant Crack and OTF Grant Review Team member Jacques Héroux were on hand to congratulate the group and to find out more about the ways in which the expansion project will make a difference in the community.

“This grow grant for the new Valoris expansion project is very important. The Government of Ontario intends to help adults expand their skillset to better guide children,” indicated Mr. Crack. “Adults will be better equipped to prepare the youngest ones to develop and help them grow into confident adults. That is a plus for the community.”

This initiative will enable more than 800 children and youth over three years in the Prescott-Russell region to learn more about the Triple P program thanks to a $506,300 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF), an agency of the Government of Ontario.

The grant awarded to Valoris by the OTF will be spread over three years, and aims to ensure greater accessibility by the people of Prescott-Russell to the tools offered by the internationally recognized Triple P. This program supports the positive development of children and youth facing challenges, and equips the parents and adults in their immediate world.

“This grant will help promote positive parenting in Prescott-Russell, and ensure that our partners hear about the Triple P approach so that they too can benefit from the training and include the approach in their interventions with families,” pointed out Valoris Executive Director Hélène Fournier.

The Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) is an agency of the Government of Ontario, and one of Canada’s largest granting foundations. With a budget of over $136 million, OTF awards grants to some 1,000 projects every year to build healthy and vibrant Ontario communities.
