Many Prescott-Russell families are currently struggling with problems due to flooding. We join our efforts to those of our community partners to help Prescott-Russell residents who are in need. If you know families or individuals who need support, please call 1 800 675-6168 – our community workers are there to help.

We offer a variety of services including child and youth mental health services and adult developmental services. For families affected by the flooding, we can also provide assistance for essential needs such as food, accommodations and clothing.

When a tragic event occurs, children and youth can be affected by the information they receive and, because of their age and developmental level, they are not always capable of interpreting what they hear or see. Here are some practical tips to help you support your children and youth following a tragic event:

  • supervise and limit access to the media for children aged 2 to 8;
  • counter false perceptions and information for children aged 8 to 16;
  • be there for them and be reassuring;
  • talk to them and answer their questions;
  • stress the positive (community support and volunteer efforts);
  • ask for help – if the symptoms, contact us at 1-800-675-6168 to get additional support.

For non-urgent information regarding the flooding, please call 211 or 1 877 761-9076.
