One year after the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) grant was announced, Valoris for Children and Adults of Prescott-Russell can report a positive first assessment for the Positive Parenting Program (Triple P) Expansion project.

In March 2018, Valoris launched the Triple P Expansion project with a $ 506,300 grant from OTF. This three-year grant has objectives aimed at enabling more than 800 Prescott-Russell people to access the tools proposed by the internationally recognized program. This program supports the positive development of children and young people who face challenges, and provides tools to parents and adults around them.

During this first year, Valoris managed to reach 231 of the 800 families expected by the end of the project, exceeding the initial target of 150 families for the first year. Three types of training were offered, increasing the capabilities of parents in the region.

"This is only the first year of three, but already we see that important progress is being made. Not only have we reached our goal of reaching out to families, but we have also issued 31 new accreditations to parents who have completed the Triple P program and created four new community partnerships. We are very proud of this first year, and we begin the second year with enthusiasm," said Hélène Fournier, Valoris Executive Director.

Making the Positive Parenting Program accessible to four new community partners is a great advantage of the OTF grant. Thanks to Triple P training, professionals working outside of Valoris can significantly increase the number of families who will benefit from the approach, real progress for the Prescott-Russell community.

The Ontario Trillium Foundation is an agency of the Government of Ontario and one of Canada’s leading granting foundations. With a budget of more than $ 136 million, OTF provides grants to more than 1,000 projects each year to support healthy and vibrant communities in Ontario.
