The Youth in Care Network (YCN) is a group that allows youth in care to take a stand in their community. The mission of the YCN is to promote the development of competencies and leadership amongst the youth in care at Valoris by providing opportunities for advancement and valorizing contributions locally, regionally, provincially, nationally and internationally.

Lead by Valoris, the Youth in Care Network’s primary objective is to advocate for children in care by helping them voice their opinions and their ideas to the government. YouthCAN, a multi-component program for youth in care and staff of Children’s Aid Societies across Ontario, is dedicated to improving the quality of care for youth in Ontario’s Child Welfare System so that they are empowered, secure and able to realize their fullest potential.

Youth in care also have the opportunity to get involved with the YCN, allowing them to become capable leaders. Whether they choose to be an active member of the YCN committee, to participate in various activities with the Provincial Advocate or with YouthCan, or to become leaders through workshops, humanitarian trips and volunteering, there is a place where each youth can be himself or herself, while making a difference!
